What makes it different

What makes Mulberry silk different?

Mulberry silk is the longest, finest and cleanest silk there is.

It comes from silkworms fed only mulberry leaves, which produce a long, unbroken strand rather than short, brittle fibre. That is why our duvets never clump, our pillows keep their shape, and our pillowcases feel the way they do. It is a natural protein fibre, close to the keratin in your own skin and hair.

Temperature

Cool in summer, warm in winter?

Yes. Silk works with your body instead of against it.

Silk fibre holds warmth on a cold night and lets excess heat escape when you run hot. So you stop the 3am routine of throwing the duvet off, then pulling it back on. It is why one all-seasons silk duvet can replace your separate summer and winter ones, and why warm sleepers and anyone going through menopause tend to love it.

Allergies & asthma

Is silk kind to allergies?

Yes. Dust mites cannot live in silk.

Dust mites need moisture and a fibre they can burrow into. Silk offers neither, and it naturally resists mould and mildew too. That makes it a gentle choice for anyone with allergies, asthma, hay fever or eczema, without the chemical treatments other bedding needs.

Skin & hair

Better skin and better hair?

Yes, and it is the silk pillowcase that does the work.

Silk barely absorbs, so your skin keeps its own moisture instead of drying out on the pillow. Its smooth surface causes far less friction than cotton, which means less frizz, less breakage and fewer of those morning sleep creases on your face.

  • Less friction for smoother hair and fewer tangles.
  • Keeps moisture where it belongs, on your skin.
  • Gentle all night, in a way cotton and polyester are not.
The number to know

What is momme?

Momme measures the weight and quality of silk.

One momme is about 4.3 grams per square metre. Our pillowcases are 16 momme, roughly 69 grams per square metre, which gives them a smooth, substantial feel and real everyday durability. Higher is heavier and more hard-wearing, and 16 momme is a lovely balance of feel, longevity and value.

Everyday care

Is silk hard to look after?

Not at all, and this is where ours is different from most silk bedding.

Duvets & pillows

Machine washable. Ours are stitched so the silk stays in place, so you can wash the whole thing on a gentle, cool cycle.

Pillowcases

Wash gently in cool water with a silk-safe detergent, avoid high heat, and air dry in the shade.

Every day

Air your bedding now and then and keep pillows in a case. Real silk rewards a little care with years of use.

The bottom line

Is silk bedding worth it?

Yes, if you think in years rather than nights. Real Mulberry silk outlasts synthetic and feather, works in every season, and is naturally hypoallergenic. Spread across the life of a 10-year duvet, it comes to just cents a night for a genuinely better sleep.
